The March 2026 General meeting will have a presentation on MOQP & Contesting by Kyle Krieg AAØZ. The meeting will be held March 27th @ 7PM in room 415 at the Clinical Learning Institute, formerly The Goldfarb School of Nursing
Want to learn the secrets of ham radio contesting? This month, we’re focusing on the Missouri QSO Party (MOQP) but we’ll cover contesting in general! For the MOQP, we’ll cover the basics of how to participate—from understanding the exchange (Signal Report + County) to simple logging techniques. We’ll also break down the 2026 rules, how to maximize your multipliers, the 1×1 special event stations to look for, and everything you need to know to submit a winning log. For general contesting we’ll talk about all the websites you need to visit and understand, where to get the inside scoop and general contesting knowledge you can use to help win your state, section or mode of choice. If you’ve never entered a contest before, don’t worry—we’ll break it all down so you can get on the air with confidence and have a blast doing it.
Kyle has been a ham since 1995. Obtaining his original call (KBØRPM) while at the University of Missouri. After taking a brief hiatus from the hobby he picked the mic back up and upgraded to Extra with call AAØZ. He lives in St. Louis City and due to his small city lot with lots of QRM he often works portable with his KX3 activating POTA via his newly acquired CW skills. He also runs a remote station and loves to contest. Missouri QSO party and RTTY RoundUp are his favorites. He enjoys talking to new hams and learning about their journey through ham radio so come up and say hello!
We have secured a new location for future meetings to be announced. Thank you to Eric WØTT, Matt WØMJ and Tom KØHHB for helping us get in contact with the right people.
