Thank you to everyone who is a member of the club. Your support is what makes this club possible. But I have to ask for a little bit more.
This club is currently running on the energy of about 10 board members and committee chairs. Many in club leadership wear many hats, handling the operations of the club, planning classes, finding presenters for meetings, supporting new hams with questions, and putting together events such as Field Day, the Holiday Party, and Winterfest.
In November, we will again have board elections, where we will be looking for a Secretary, President, and Board Member-at-Large. If you have any inclination to join the board, you can self-nominate for any one of these positions.
If you are interested in something with less commitment, you could take on a committee chair position. The biggest one we have open right now is Field Day Chair. The Field Day Chair is responsible for overseeing and planning Field Day, but you aren’t alone. Since it is one of our most popular events, there are plenty of people willing to support you.
Other chairs that need to be filled are:
- Social Chair — Organize social events such as our breakfasts and holiday party. We have also done dinners and happy hours in the past.
- Social Media — Keep our social media accounts up to date and actively participate on social media on behalf of the club.
- Programs — Find presenters and coordinate programs for our meetings.
- New Ham — This committee has barely existed in the past, but it could become a great way to help new hams get on the air and provide Elmering (help from more experienced hams who have knowledge to share).
There are also a few committees that need help:
- Do you like our nets? Join Net Control!
- Do you like the technical side of things? Join Engineering!
- Like winter? Join the Winterfest Committee!
On to the Fun Stuff — What’s Coming Up?
We have had some requests for code plugs and radio programming files. If you have one, send it to info@slsrc.org. Please include your callsign, radio model, the software needed to use the file, and a short description. It will probably take a while, but we will make these files available on our website.
Our website could also use some updates. If you are interested in taking over a section and keeping it updated, let us know.
Fox Hunt or Repeater Games
This is another area where we need you! If you are interested in putting together a fox hunt or repeater game, reach out to us and we can put one together.
