Bill Carroll, KC9CIK, will be telling us about a new way to address the globe and its impact on emergency communications within Amateur Radio. Whether you are participating in a charitable event or responding to a natural disaster, you need to know where you are going or report back where you are. According to the United Nations over 70% of the world’s population does not have an address that accurately describes their location. “what3words” solves this problem. If you would like to learn more on how this new addressing process can impact our Amateur Radio community then meet us on-line at or

Bill has been a ham for the past 15+ years and has been active in the St. Louis & Suburban Radio Club as a past Vice President, President, and current Vice President. Bill has been involved in multiple community service events that have incorporated Amateur Radio into the communication process. He has participated in Bike MS, Ronald McDonald House bike ride, Lupus WolfRide, Tour de Cure, Moonlight Ramble and Pedal the Cause. He has also helped with communications for a balloon glow for Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Belleville Shriners Parade and the St. Louis Marathon. His interest in public service has been the primary reason for his involvement in the hobby of Amateur Radio.
