Friday, July 27th at 7:00 PM will be the St. Louis & Suburban Radio Club’s monthly meeting. Our presentation this month will be the State of the Union of the SLSRC Repeater System by our Engineering Committee Chair, Kyle Krieg (AAØZ).
Kyle will talk about the successes (and not so successful efforts) of the committee since he became the chair in January 2018. He will also give an overview of the repeaters including equipment & locations, explain the 5Ghz point-to-point links at each site, and also lead a discussion around what the membership would like to see from the repeaters in the future. With digital becoming more prominent in the 2m and 70cm bands, he will touch on SLSRC’s System Fusion (C4FM) network, and what future plans are being discussed within the club internally and with other clubs.
The SLSRC’s repeaters bring the club together during SLSRC’s weekly nets, we use them to keep us informed of each other’s day-to-day lives, and are available in disasters to handle health and welfare traffic when lives may count on reliable communication. The repeaters are the gateway radio and primary communication methods for new Technicians. The SLSRC repeater system is the RF backbone of the club. They are an important aspect of SLSRC, and we need your input on how we can improve activity on the repeaters and make them a club asset today and for the future.
Come learn what it takes to keep SLSRC’s repeaters on the air, in excellent condition, and what the future might hold in the form of FM, digital repeaters, and potential linking for the St. Louis and surrounding areas.
The meeting will be at Missouri Baptist Medical Center at 7:00 PM in rooms 419 & 420 of the Clinical Learning Institute/Goldfarb School of Nursing.
Hope to see you there!
