SLSRC General Meeting, November 22, 2024 – Digital DXing

For the November SLSRC meeting, Joe Fleagle, WØFY will discuss Digital DXing.  Digital DXing involves receiving and identifying distant radio or television signals, or making two-way radio contact with distant stations.

As a retired electrical engineer, Joe worked on the development of a wide variety of electronic projects both civilian and military in his career. IFF equipment for aircraft, antilock brakes for trucks, electronic warfare receivers, radar transmitters, an automatic vehicle location system, finishing with automatic test equipment for military hardware.  After retirement, he had a part-time job dealing with Zigbee and wi-fi RF hardware and setting up RF networks for utility meter readings.

Joe was first licensed in 1961 and has been a continuous part of the hobby since then.  He still likes to homebrew hardware, repair older radio gear, and tinker with antennas.  Joe enjoys VHF operation – especially 6 meters. Portable operation is fun too.

Don’t forget, November is election month.  The available offices are President, Secretary, and Member at Large – Even Year.  If you are interested in running, please contact John Scott at KB0SWG@slsrc.org.

The meeting is on November 22nd @ 7 PM. General meeting info and location can be found at the following link: https://www.slsrc.org/meeting-info/.
