The St. Louis and Suburban Radio Club (SLSRC) will coordinate STL operations for
SKYWARN Recognition Day on Saturday, December 2 at the NWS office in Weldon Spring
from 0800 – 1600 hrs. We will be operating on HF, VHF, and IRLP in one and two hour shifts.
(See below for information on scheduling a time).
SKYWARN Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the
American Radio Relay League (ARRL). It celebrates the contributions that volunteer
SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service.
On this day, SKYWARN operators can visit their local NWS office and contact other radio
operators across the country.
The event is open to all adult Amateur Radio SKYWARN operators who provide information for
the County Warning Areas (CWA) covering St. Louis, St. Charles, and Eastern Illinois.
However, it is not an Open House, and all participants and guests must be on the schedule. If you
want to operate or visit, we need to know when and how many so we can have adequate staff
available to handle the requests. (See below for information on scheduling a time).
Space is limited, as this will be a regular work day for NWS personnel.
As an official NWS Office, NWS will receive a certificate. If operators at the NWS station want
an individual certificate, there will be a website where they can enter their call sign and print a
personal certificate.
If you would like to operate on a one or two hour time slot, contact Cliff Rozar at
kc0sdv@slsrc.org to schedule the times and mode you would like to participate on. If you want
to just visit, please indicate time and number of people.
